Project Kindness was birthed out of many visits to schools where conflict was becoming “the norm”, and educators were wanting strategies for helping students of all ages get along more effectively. As my partner Ty and I drove hundreds of miles across the state of Washington in the fall of 2024, we discussed the reality that students are often just a reflection of the adult behaviors they see in their schools, homes, and on social media. We also realized, as we engaged in our own communities and on social media, children are not the only ones who need to be inspired towards kindness in this moment.

What if instead of allowing hate to become the norm, we developed a project that inspired kindness in homes, communities, schools, organizations, and on social media? 

What if we could make kindness viral like so many posts about negative encounters?
